It’s only forever
Chad Nicely died of a sudden heart attack at his Peoria home on March 11th, 2024. He was just 40 years old.
Chad breathed art into everything he touched from canvas and wood to skin, seed and song. Those fortunate enough to have loved him will know that words completely fail to encompass the amazing human being that he was.
Grumpy garden gnome, rabid basketball fan and defender of the tiny; he was a selfless teacher, a loyal friend and an incomparably good man.
Chad leaves behind a remarkable legacy of creativity, compassion and quiet generosity that will continue to impact the lives of others for decades to come.
Close friend or complete stranger; he was always ready with an understanding ear and his own special brand of unflinchingly honest advice.
He loved every fuzzy, feathered and scaly creature that crossed his path. Almost as much as they loved him. There wasn’t a werewolf he couldn’t tame or a bunny he wouldn’t threaten with a head scratchy.
A native of Virginia and survivor of the deadliest wildfire in California history; Chad spent the last 13 years creating poignant and beautiful bodyart from coast to coast, bringing his unique talent here to the Midwest in 2023. He never lost sight of how grateful he was for those who shared their lives, their skin and their trust with him.
His loss will be felt deeply by countless clients, friends, relatives and artists in every corner of the world.
We are asking those who are able to assist his family as they struggle to process this unimaginable and unexpected tragedy. All proceeds will be used to ease the burden of his final medical and memorial expenses.
